About the Instructor
Nancy received both a Masters and Specialist degree from the University of Florida Counselor Education Department in 1984 and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 1987. Ms. Lasseter is an instructor of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program in the Gainesville community since 2004 and at UF Health since 2006. As a co-founder of the UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine (AIM) Contemplative Arts, Nancy brought the healing arts into the healthcare setting. For two years beginning in 2013, as part of the new UF Health Integrative Medicine team, Nancy offered mindfulness and other stress reduction interventions to patients and families.
Ms. Lasseter has taught a four week Mindfulness in Medicine course to UF Health medical students, a four week Mindfulness at Work program at the Partnership for Strong Families program staff. She will teach a four week Tools for a Mindful Life program at the University of Florida with UF Wellness. Nancy is a member of the Mindfulness Project at the University of Florida whose mission is to bring greater mindfulness to the University of Florida campus. She is contracted to teach an online mindfulness course that she has created at UF to be given to case managers and social workers in the statewide Maternal and Infant Care program.
